Marshfield Clinic Health System is partnering with the Child Abuse Prevention Board, Celebrate Children! Foundation, and the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome to educate and raise awareness in our community to prevent any child from being a child-victim of abusive head trauma, formerly known as shaken baby syndrome.

CLICK for Babies is a grassroots campaign calling all knitters and those who crochet across North America to make purple colored baby caps which will be delivered to families in November and December alongside the Period of PURPLE Crying program.

The Period of PURPLE Crying is a development stage and normal period of crying in the first few weeks and months of life that ALL babies go through. This period begins at about 2 weeks of age, peaks in the second month, and becomes less in the third to fifth month. There are other common characteristics of this period, which are better described by the acronym PURPLE.

Learn more about understanding a baby’s crying and the ways to cope.

Led by the Marshfield Child Advocacy Center and Marshfield Medical Center Volunteer Services, we will start collecting caps in April 2018 to be handed out to new babies in November and December.

As a general rule, caps should have a circumference of 14in (13in – 15in) and a height of 4in – 6 in.

View the cap sizing and crafting guidelines here and more information at the Stitchers Club.
